Steph's Quilt

My daughter, Steph, made the cutest baby quilt @ a year ago, and I just helped her finish it by hand sewing the binding. She asked me to do it a couple of months ago and I totally forgot until New Year's Eve. 

She appliqued 3 little ducks onto her quilt from an applique pattern I had to make a quilt for my oldest sonwhen he was little. That never happened.  She used it to applique 3 cute ducks which she individualized by giving them each a different hat. The original had a sailor hat.

SUGAR Conference 2012

I had a great time in Columbia MO this past week at the SUGAR Convention--I bought lots of patterns for my Statler Stitcher, fabric, and other tools, plus I took some really great classes.

Christmas Quilting 2010

This Christmas my daughters and I got together and made a quilt for a friend of ours who is far from her family this Christmas. She and her daughter live nearby, and we thought she might like this fun, disappearing nine patch quilt!

Jessica's Birthday Quilt

Jessica's birthday quilt is finally done. We are repossessing the one I originally gave her that she didn't love, with one that she does love! This was an intense quilt for me, and took a huge effort for me to finish it before I went to visit in March.

Green Quilt for Margaret

Margaret's quilt was made with material that I had in my stash. Margaret took hours putting the right greens, whites and blacks together so that no block is exactly like another! Amazing. Happy Birthday to Margaret for July 2009! It took us a while to get it done.

Darryl's Patriotic Birthday Quilt

Darryl loves our country, and loves patriotic themes, so I designed this quilt using the star from one of the Buggy Barn quilt books.












I wanted to incorporate the red, white and blue from our country's flag.












The backing for the quilt reflects the blue and white star theme.

Little Aliens

This is the first quilt that I made to be quilted on my new Statler Stitcher. I made these twin quilts for Jonas' bunk beds, using the Turning Twenty pattern.



I designed and quilted two of the panels, one with a space shuttle . . .



and the other with three comic aliens.



You can see the fun quilt designs even better on the back of the quilt.



Jonas loves outer space, and these quilts gave him just the right touch in his room.

Jessica's HB Quilt

I love these bright colors with the white. I also really like the friendship star pattern. These beautiful fabrics went very well together to create this queen sized quilt for my daughter, Jessica.

Janzaberry and the Teeny Tiny are enjoying snuggling in the quilt!













I love the look of this quilt. The stars are a little bit bigger than I thought they would be, but I still love it.












I love the striped borders. These Kalidoscope fabrics by Mark Lipinski are so beautiful!

Turning 19

This Turning Twenty quilt was made for my daughter, Hilaree, for her 19th Birthday. She and I both love the vibrant colors and the way the large blocks showcase the quilting.





I had the material for this quilt for almost two years before I managed to make it. I've got to get faster!!




I love the oranges and pink and purples together!

Blogger Quilt Festival 2009

I chose this quilt to spotlight because it was the first quilt I made after getting my Statler Stitcher in 2006. I had lots of fun making this quilt, and even more fun quilting it, and using it. I love the bright colors, and the way the white sets off the bright colors. I made it in the summer of 2006 when we were up at our "cabin" in Midway, UT with six of our seven children, and our three grandchildren (now five soon to be six!). I love quilting!

Candy's Quilt

This is the dog-themed quilt I made for my friend Candy who has owned several dogs over the many years I have known her. She has owned schnauzers for the past 10 years or so, and this quilt was made in honor of Niche, Tove, and her current dog, Pepper.

Zoe's Trunk Block Club

Here's the first quilt I won from the Block Club at Zoe's Quilting. I really loved this one--bright and batiks! I quilted each block separately, as well as the sashing and each border with it's own design. So much fun.

The turquoise and yellow block in the upper middle is unique as it has a gecko quilted on the square.

My Patriotic Star Quilt

This quilt is one that I love. I made it a year ago last fall and enjoyed quilting it so much. It was my first attempt at quilting using the point to point feature on my Statler, and I think it turned out very well.

Here you can see a little more detail. It's a Buggy Barn pattern, and I love it!

My first "Real" Quilt

This quilt was made up in Midway at our house the first time we all stayed there in the summer of 2006 (I think). I found the pattern in a American Patchwork and Quilting magazine, the [ ] edition. I loved the pattern, and I love this quilt!

Flag Quilt.

I love this flag quilt. I got the quilt kit in Utah at the store near the Orem EXIT Realty office where Blaine is the broker. It hangs in the family room and really lights up the room.

There's No Place Like Home YW Camp 2008

These Wizard of Oz quilts were made for Girls Camp 2008.

Margaret was the assistant youth camp leader and had a great time--she was Toto, too!

Granddaughters Quilts and Halloween 2008

Here are the quilts I made for my three granddaughters in September and October. They were made using a wacky quilt block with the fabric line "Spring Fling" by Me and My Siter for Moda. It took me about a year to figure out what kind of quilt I wanted to make with this fabric, and I was excited when I realized that I could do this fun block. I wanted a lot of white it the quilts. I love white with pinks and yellows, etc. and I just fell in love with these quilts after they were done.






I also made each family a quilt for Halloween. Stephanie and I cut them out, and I sewed the tops and quilted them all in one day--it took one more day to bind them. I used a 1/2" bias binding foot, and found that there are easier ways to machine bind a quilt. It was a good learning experience, and I think the quilts turned out great for a fun holiday lap quilt.

Quilt Camp 2006

This is the first project we ever had for quilt camp. January ordered it for us, and we started in July of 2006. I finished piecing it in August of 2008! Not my fastest effort, but it was hard!(!) and it looked like it was going to be ugly, but it's not! I had fun quilting it on January's new HQ machine when we were in Midway over Labor Day and now it hangs in my bedroom.

My quilting days got off to a slow start. In February of 2007 I made this table runner out of some Valentine material I fell in love with. Because I hadn't done much quilting The pictures showing how I made it were so that I could show my sister, who was making a similar quilt.

Little Quilts, Continued

These two little quilts were a much more successful quilting effort.

This nine patch little quilt was the first project I made from the book Little Quilts, by Alice Berg, Sylvia Johnson, and Mary Ellen Von Holt. I loved these projects, because when I had all seven of my children living at home, there was very little time for quilting, and a small quilt was all that I could manage.




The heart quilt was made with my daughter, Stephanie. She was very motivated to get this done--and we made it in one day. She cut out the hearts and heat appliqued them. We then machine appliqued the edges and made the border! I hand quilted it in a large criss-cross pattern with embroidery floss. Fun, fun.
